Make sense of your
next musical move.
One-to-one music consultations for arrangement ideas, backing track planning, songwriting development and creative direction. Start with the music you have and the questions you want to explore.
Six ways to work
through a musical idea.
You may have a finished demo, a melody that needs direction, or only a broad idea of the sound you want to explore. Choose the area closest to your current needs.
Music Arrangement Consultation
For songwriters and musicians who have a melody, chord progression, demo or early arrangement and want to explore how its musical parts could work together more effectively.
What we can discuss
- Verse, chorus, bridge, intro and outro structure.
- Melodic development, chord movement and harmonic direction.
- Rhythm, groove, tempo and changes in musical energy.
- Instrument choices, musical layers and the balance between parts.
- Where the arrangement may feel crowded, sparse or repetitive.
What to bring
A demo, melody recording, chord notes, lyrics or a short explanation of the arrangement you have in mind. Early-stage ideas are welcome; a finished recording is not required.
Backing Track Planning
For singers, performers and creators who need to define the direction of a backing track before commissioning or undertaking production work.
What we can discuss
- Musical style, mood, tempo and intended performance feel.
- Suitable key and tonal range based on the brief you provide.
- Rhythm section, bass, keys, guitar and other proposed instruments.
- Arrangement density, transitions, breaks and ending options.
- Reference tracks and the characteristics you want to explore.
- Practical requirements for rehearsal, performance or recording use.
What to bring
Your song or melody, preferred key if known, performance requirements, reference material and any details about how the track is intended to be used.
Music Production Consultation
For creators who have started developing a track but need a clearer view of the creative decisions, technical considerations and next steps involved.
What we can discuss
- The current state of your demo and the main production challenges.
- Arrangement priorities and the order in which to approach them.
- Sound references, instrumentation and broad sonic direction.
- How to make creative decisions without losing the original idea.
- Potential next stages, including recording, editing, mixing or further arrangement work.
- How to describe the intended outcome in a clear production brief.
What to bring
Your latest demo, notes about what is working or not working, examples of sounds you like and a short list of the decisions you are finding difficult.
Musical Style Development
For musicians who know the feeling they want to create but have not yet settled on a consistent musical direction, genre approach or combination of influences.
What we can discuss
- Genre references and the musical characteristics behind them.
- Energy, atmosphere, texture and emotional tone.
- Instrument choices, rhythmic feel and broad sound palette.
- How to combine influences while retaining an individual identity.
- Which ideas to prioritise and which may distract from the main direction.
- How to communicate a style brief to future collaborators.
What to bring
A small selection of reference tracks, a description of your intended audience or performance context, and notes on what you want your music to feel like.
Song Development Consultation
For songwriters who want to talk through a song in progress, explore areas that may need attention and decide how to develop the material without losing its original intent.
What we can discuss
- Verse, chorus, bridge and overall narrative structure.
- Melodic phrasing, repetition, contrast and progression.
- The relationship between lyrics, melody and rhythm.
- Transitions, hooks and points where the song may lose momentum.
- How the demo communicates the intended mood and message.
- Possible directions for revision and further development.
What to bring
Lyrics, a voice memo, chord notes, a rough demo or a description of the section that is not yet working as intended. You can also bring specific questions for the discussion.
Music Project & Delivery Planning
For individuals or small creative teams who need to turn a broad music idea into a more organised brief, with a clearer understanding of priorities and possible next steps.
What we can discuss
- The project's goals, current material and intended use.
- Which stages may be needed, from arrangement to production.
- What should be prepared before further work begins.
- Potential collaborators, specialist tasks and dependencies to consider.
- Intended output formats and practical delivery requirements.
- Questions to resolve before commissioning separate creative work.
What to bring
A project outline, any existing recordings or documents, your intended outcome, a realistic budget range and any dates or milestones you need to consider.
